Looks like Microsoft Great Plains becomes more and more popular, partly because of Microsoft muscles behind it. Now it is targeted to the whole spectrum of horizontal and vertical market clientele. Small companies use Small Business Manager (which is based on the same technology - Great Plains Dexterity dictionary and runtime), Great Plains Standard on MSDE is for small to midsize clients, and then Great Plains serves the rest of the market up to big corporations. There are several reporting tools available and you definitely need to know which one to use for different types of reports.
If you are developer who is asked: how do we create report for Microsoft Great Plains - read this and you will have the clues on where to look further.
- Great Plains Report Writer (ReportWriter) - this is built-in reporting tool. All the original report in Great Plains are written in ReportWriter. ReportWriter itself is Dexterity module. You should use this tool if you would like to modify existing Great Plains reports, such as Blank Invoice Form - here you can place your company logo, change the positioning, fonts, colors, etc. ReportWriter will allow you also do new reports - simple option if you want to export all the records from one Great Plains table - use it. New report, however doesn’t have interface where you would enter parameters - so it is not useful for real custom reports. Another limitation of ReportWriter - you can not do cross-modules report - when you need sales and purchasing info on the same report for example.
- FRx. This is excellent tool when deal with financial reporting - it works on the General Ledger level (Balance sheet, P&L, Cash Flow Statement, etc.). It also allows you to do multiple companies consolidation - when you do consolidated Balance Sheet (with inter-companies transactions elimination).
- Smart List - Export to Excel - this is nice feature in Great Plains - you could create a list with simple criteria and then export it to Excel.
- Crystal Reports. It gives you unlimited functionality. Obviously flexibility requires you to know Great Plains table structure: Launch Great Plains and go to Tools->Resource Description->Tables. Find the table in the proper series. If you are looking for the customers - it should be RM00101 - customer master file. If you need historical Sales Order Processing documents - they are in SOP30200 - Sales History Header file, etc. Create ODBC connection to GP Company database. Use the same technique as when you create standard ODBC connection for GP workstation - but change default database to targeted company database. Create SQL Query to probe the data - we always recommend tuning your query and see that you are getting adequate results - in any case - Crystal Report is just a nice tool to show the results of your query.
- Direct Web Publishing off Great Plains databases - yes - it is easy now with Visual Studio.Net and you can hire good programmers. This is good - Microsoft Business Solutions products: Great Plains, Solomon, Navision and Axapta will be integrated into so called Microsoft Business Portal - which will have web interface - you can get the idea if you look at Microsoft CRM web client - so direct web publishing is good taste.
- SQL Queries. If you have SQL background - this is great field for you. You know - with properly formatted SQL query you can realize simple EDI export/import for the integration with legacy systems.

Targeted traffic (or the lack of it) is what determines the success or failure of any commercial website. A site can receive thousands of visitors per day and still fail if most of that traffic isn’t targeted.
What is targeted traffic?
Have you ever clicked on a link or an ad only to discover that the site you land on has nothing to do with what you thought it would? Have you ever been redirected to another website that offers something you aren’t interested in?
If so, your visit to those websites consisted of untargeted traffic because you simply weren’t interested in the item(s) being sold on those sites. You got there expecting one thing but found something different. Or even worse, maybe you got there without even knowing you were going there.
Receiving targeted traffic simply means receiving visitors who are pre-qualified because they clicked on an ad or link that accurately describes your site and/or what it has to offer. Cyprus is and island that is well know for many centuries of great traditions, but what it is best known for is its spectacular climate, which has made it a very popular destination with tourists, with over 2.4 million visiting its many resorts. Cyprus attracts tourists from all over the world, but the majority come from Europe. In recent years Russians and Poles have become poolside regulars alongside the French, Germans and, of course, us Brits.. One of the main reasons why there is such a heavy presence of Brits in Cyprus is because of the positioning of the British Armed forces in the southern Greek part of the island. With quick and easy access to the Middle East, this is likely to be the case for some time to come. As such the Brits are now almost as local and the locals, and in turn, now cater for the Brits. From English being spoken everywhere you go, to driving on the left side of the road. No doubt the similarity to the UK makes us Brits feel more at home, but in a more favourable climate.
For many reading this, the prospect of taking a holiday away from England only to be greeted at the airport by a hire car representative hailing from Croydon and being served an authentic Mediterranean dish of steak and chips will not appeal. However, this side of Cyprus, that continues to attract millions of tourists year after year, is only one aspect of the island and is concentrated around the tourist hotspots of Paphos, Larnaca and Ayia Napa. As soon as you leave the packaged paradise and clubbers haven of these areas and hit the road the real country reveals itself.
If your fancy cooling off, and seeing something different take a trip up to the Troodos Mountains. In the heart of the mountains you will find the Kykkos monastery, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1998. Housing art and exhibits on ancient Greece, the monastery has the twin function of being a museum for visitors and a practising monastery lived in by worshiping monks. If you are a wine lover, there are treats in store for you. A daytrip to the Troodos Mountains can be a welcome change from the beach and with overnight accommodation available in many of the authentic villages dotted about; you might want to spend a few days here sampling another side of Cyprus.

Many science-fiction writers have written about the date when robots will take over the world and start a war killing all humans. If you are human such talk perhaps concerns you a bit. I suppose I do not blame you. After all humans with their soft shell are no match for the high-tech alloy construction we are promised with future robotic artificial intelligent androids, which may last generations. In our meet of such robots could terminate vast numbers of humans in a city or town in no time.
We have all seen Hollywood movies depicting robots killing humans and many futurists predict of this future risk. That is to say in the year 2050 it could all be possible; on the tombstone it read “death by robots.” Of course if humans are programming these artificial intelligent robotic androids then of course surely they will program them to; “Never harm a human!” Yet at the same time many of the Military Initiatives for the “Future Fighting Force” include robotic war fighters and artificially intelligent fighting machines.
In fact we are already seeing the beginning of this with unmanned aerial vehicles in the new net-centric style of war in the modern battlespace. So, what will the future hold, robotic armies sent in to kill the enemy? What if our domestic robotic companions which will have artificial intelligence and be able to learn hear of this and rather fancy the idea of exterminating humans? Consider this in 2006.

If you know yourself as one of these, then you will have a desire to express yourself in some way.
Relationships are opportunities to express these aspects of self. An opportunity is nothing more than a time and place to demonstrate that you are a kind person or a cruel person or whatever. All of life needs to express itself, and getting involved with another is that opportunity that you have drawn to yourself to say “here I am,” “I am kind,” “I am cruel,” or anything else that you wish to express.
This is the purpose of the relative world. It is the forum, the time and place to experience what you believe that you are and to declare it.
Personal relationships with lovers, partners, family, relatives, friends and strangers facilitate expression of your being. Without relationships you would be nothing because you could not express yourself and you could not declare that you are one thing or the other.
You cannot demonstrate love unless you have the opportunity to experience love, and you cannot say that you are loving unless you have the opportunity to be loving.
With the opportunity to express oneself in a relationship comes the responsibility to express gratitude for the opportunity. Gratitude is merely an acknowledgement of having a thing. It is a declaration of ownership.
If you have received a thing, then you must acknowledge it before it becomes yours. “I am grateful,” merely says that I have received what I desired.
All relationships work, because they are opportunities to express yourself positively or negatively. They may be accepted or rejected, but nevertheless they are opportunities and they must be acknowledged through gratitude. It is the human condition to say that a relationship worked or it didn’t, but at a different perspective all relationships work. With this higher thought, one begins to see all of life as a giant buffet. One begins to see abundance and opportunity in an endless sea of choices. And because this new awareness sets one free to choose, you will always see opportunity and welcome relationships, good or bad!
Marriage and divorce are such opportunities. They are perfect times to express your higher self and your darkest side. Close partnerships bring the best opportunities because they are the closest and most difficult to turn away from. There is urgency to react to the issues at hand because they are in your face.
They are wonderful opportunities to act or react in your own best interest. The person in you life that you are at odds with the most, offers you the greatest opportunity to demonstrate who you are.
“Good or bad,” “right or wrong,” are poor ways to describe relationships. All relationships are good, and all relationships work for you, even if it is an opportunity to walk away from them. And all of these opportunities are drawn to you by yourself because of your desire to express yourself.
The driver that cuts you off in traffic brings opportunity for you to react. At that moment at some level of your consciousness you need to experience, anger, pity, tolerance or understanding. This careless driver is an Angel (opportunity) that you asked for, whether you can fully appreciate it in the moment or not. In a higher state of awareness you would bless him/her for their gift (opportunity) to you.
Even in so called failing relationships there are just as many opportunities to express or experience yourself because there really is no such thing as a failing relationship. There is only an opportunity for you to see that the relationship as failing or not. Relationships that are seen as only good or bad, right or wrong are doomed to only those choices. Seen as opportunities, they all become beneficial and good. Relationships cannot be experienced as good or beneficial until they are acknowledged through an expression of gratitude.
